Why Quality Grooming Is About More Than a Haircut?

When most people think about dog grooming, they think about a bath, a haircut, and a fresh new look. While those things are certainly important, quality grooming goes far beyond appearance.

At Fabulous Fur, we believe grooming should support your dog's skin health, coat condition, comfort, and overall well-being. Every dog is different, which means their grooming care should be too.

Healthy Skin Creates a Healthy Coat

A healthy, beautiful coat starts with healthy skin.

Dryness, irritation, allergies, excessive shedding, and matting can all affect your dog's comfort and the condition of their coat. That's why professional grooming isn't simply about getting your dog clean—it's about maintaining the health of the skin underneath.

During every appointment, we consider your dog's coat type, skin condition, and individual needs to help keep them looking and feeling their best.

Why Every Dog Receives Conditioner

One question we occasionally hear is:

"Do I need to add conditioner?"

Our philosophy is simple: proper coat care shouldn't be an upgrade.

Conditioner helps restore moisture after bathing, improves manageability, reduces tangles, and supports overall coat health. Whether your dog has a short coat, a long coat, or curls that require extra maintenance, conditioning helps keep the coat healthy and comfortable.

That's why every dog receives conditioner as part of their grooming experience at Fabulous Fur.

Not Every Dog Needs the Same Shampoo

Just like people, dogs have different skin and coat needs.

Some dogs have sensitive skin, some experience seasonal allergies, and others may require a veterinarian-recommended medicated shampoo. Certain coats benefit from moisturizing products, while others need formulas designed for shedding, texture, or specific skin conditions.

Using the same shampoo on every dog simply isn't the best approach. We choose products based on what will best support your dog's individual needs.

Why We Don't Charge Extra for Basic Coat Care

This is one of the things that makes Fabulous Fur different.

Many salons offer conditioner, moisturizing treatments, or specialized shampoos as add-on services. While every business operates differently, we believe basic skin and coat care should be part of providing quality grooming.

If your dog needs conditioner, we use conditioner.

If your dog's skin would benefit from a specific product, we use the product that's best for them.

Our goal isn't to upsell every aspect of coat care. Our goal is to provide the care your dog needs so they leave our salon comfortable, healthy, and feeling their best.

Every Dog Is Different

A Goldendoodle, Husky, French Bulldog, and Shih Tzu all have very different grooming requirements.

Different breeds, coat types, lifestyles, and skin conditions require different grooming approaches. That's why we take the time to evaluate each pet individually rather than following the exact same routine for every dog.

Because every dog is unique, every groom should be too.

The Fabulous Fur Difference

At Fabulous Fur, grooming is about more than making dogs look great when they leave the salon.

It's about supporting healthy skin, maintaining healthy coats, and providing personalized care based on what each dog truly needs.

When we recommend a product or adjust our approach, we're doing it for one reason: to give your dog the best care possible.

Because quality grooming is about much more than a haircut. 🐾
